From this Chapter:
A small, two-sided card from IX accompanied the first 3 pages of sketches sent. His approach is casual, announcing “some ideas …,” though he seems to have granted that they were notably beyond the norm by continuing “… of houses out in space,” then, on the card’s reverse side, admitting, nevertheless, that “… they are not absolutely originals!” [sic] His characterization of the page with “A” category ideas as “flat” while the “B” designs are “more turbulent” would seem only to mean that the former lack dome-like projections. By any measure, one would have to say that this initial set of proposals is unexpectedly distinctive. One can only wonder at the continual re-formulation of imaginative horizon displayed in the eleven first sketches, and also to admit that they imply an elevated level of emotional – as distinct from analytical – engagement. Xenakis explicitly requests feedback: “Give me your feelings,” notably in terms of “feeling” rather than, say, “intellect.”
